AYR – The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) will be conducting dye tracer testing in Baden Creek at Baden Pond.
Residents in Ayr, Plattsville and Haysville can expect the possibility of different-looking water while the environmentally friendly dye rolls downstream of Baden.
The GRCA says the dye may temporarily give the Baden Creek a yellow-green, pink, blue or orange colour.
The dye will dilute quickly as it flows into the Nith River. The conservation authority also stresses the dye is harmless to aquatic life and to individuals who may rely on Baden Creek and the Nith River for their water supply or recreational uses.
They say the dye tracer is being used as part of the routine maintenance of the GRCA’s water control infrastructure. The dye shows water flows over water control structures and helps GRCA staff assess the condition of these structures.
