ERIN – A Wellington County committee is set to receive an update on the new Erin library construction project.
The new library will be located at the former grist mill in the Village of Erin.
A report going before the Information, Heritage and Seniors committee Wednesday afternoon lays out where the project is now.
Work completed to date includes:
- The installation of 45 micro-piles has been completed
- Excavation of the elevator pit has begun
Work to be completed in the next month includes:
- Forming, pouring & backfill of the elevator pit will be complete
- mechanical & electrical trades will begin installing their underground services
- the sump pit will be installed below grade
- Installation of concrete grade beams will be complete & backfilled
In a November report to the committee, staff said Phase 1 of construction had been completed.
Work included removal of all the old structure and debris from inside the four exterior stone walls as well as structurally supporting the stone walls in preparation for phase 2 of the construction project.
The $12.8 million project is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2025.
