ERIN – The Town of Erin raised the Irish flag in honour of Irish Heritage Month, with the help of the Celtic Academy of Canada.
During its Thursday council meeting, the township updated its flag flying policy to allow flags for special events to be flown at the discretion of the CAO.
A report to council said since the original version of the townships flying policy was approved by council in July of 2019, numerous requests have been received to fly special event flags for various organizations.
“Since there was no process identified in the original policy to accommodate these organizations, requests were brought forward to Council for consideration and approval. This process takes up valuable Council time and it is recommended that the approval for this process be designated to the CAO”, the report said.
Council approved the policy unanimously.
