MAPLETON – Mayor Gregg Davidson and members of council in Mapleton will be faced with a proposal from members of the Moorefield and District Horticultural Society at Tuesday’s meeting.
The request from the non-profit is to utilize township facilities to host eight annual meetings with no cost.
Meeting locations, a report details, have primarily been at Moorefield Community Centre and PMD Complex in the past.
The township, though, is reviewing their volunteer facility usage policy, and as it stands, only two meetings have been granted.
The society provides volunteer contributions to the township, including garden work at several locations including Moorefield Terrace, several parks and trails in Drayton and more.
They say while they understand the desire to review the existing policy, organizations like the society contribute significantly to the fabric of Mapleton.
The recommendation is for council to receive the letter for information at Tuesday’s council meeting, beginning at 7 p.m.
