GUELPH – A “vibrant new community hub” in Guelph will be getting a hand from the federal government, to the tune of a $13.5 million investment.
Jointly announced today by Guelph MP Lloyd Longfield and Mayor Cam Guthrie, the investment, according to a media release, comes from Infrastructure Canada and is administered through the Green and Inclusive Buildings (GICB) program.
This program supports green and accessible retrofits, repairs or upgrades of existing public community buildings and the construction of new publicly accessible community buildings with a goal to help Canada towards its net-zero objectives by 2050.
The new Guelph landmark is anticipated to be the first stand-alone library in Canada to achieve the Canada Green Building Council’s Zero Carbon Building – Design Standard certification.
