FERGUS – SmartCentres, the owner and operator of the Fergus Walmart is proposing to build two more additional retail buildings.
An application by the company going before Centre Wellington’s Committee of Adjustment on Thursday is looking to facilitate further retail intensification on the property located off St. David Street North in Fergus.
This would include a a 4,000 ft² building located along the eastern property boundary and adjacent to Highway 6 and a 3,500 ft² building within the southwest quadrant off Highway 6 and Parkside Drive West.
“In our opinion, allowing additional development on the Property provides an opportunity to put underutilized surface parking to better use by providing the community with additional retail options. The reduction in parking is supported by a Parking Study completed by Paradigm Transportation Solutions which has been included with this application,” the application said.
A total of 55 parking spaces would be lost.
The appilication will be presented to the committee at Thursday’s meeting for consideration.
