FERGUS – A proposed housing development planned for Fergus’s north end cleared another hurdle.
On Monday, Centre Wellington Council approved a zoning amendment for a St. David Street North property to allow for 37 townhouse units as well as 12 single detached homes.
The vote followed intensive studies including a Planning Justification Report, a Functional Servicing, a Stormwater Management Hydrogeological Study, a Traffic Impact Assessment, and a noise assessment.
Manager of Planning Services, Mariana Iglesias told council there was also a public consultation process.
The Ministry of Transportation reviewed the traffic impact study and concluded there will be no need for road improvements because of the development, however, Managing Director of Infrastructure Services Colin Baker says traffic-calming measures are being built into the design of the project to keep speeds in the area down.
Council approved the requested zoning amendment for the proposed development.
