FERGUS – John Black Public School in Fergus is warning parents about an incident where someone reportedly tried to get a child into their vehicle.
An email posted to Facebook was sent to parents on Tuesday. It said a stranger approached a student riding a bike near a friend’s house. The email says the person asked the student where she lived and then asked her to get into the car. The student fled the area and told her parents.
Wellington County OPP confirmed to The Grand 101 that they were called to Lamond St. on Monday at around 4:30 p.m. to investigate a suspicious person. Police say an unidentified man, driving a blue sedan, spoke with a student. Police have not been able to identify the driver.
School officials are asking parents to remind their children to never get in a car with a stranger and to report any suspicious behaviour to a trusted adult.
