GUELPH- Two Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute students received national scholarships from the University of Waterloo.
In a release yesterday, the school identified the students as “Lucas Z” and “William X.” Each were each named recipients of the math scholarships. Every year the University of Waterloo awards ten national scholarships to first-year students.
“These scholarships are open to Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada only,” reads a statement on U of W’s website. “The typical candidate will have a distinguished academic standing, especially in mathematics, as well as a record of accomplishments in mathematics and/or computer science contests throughout high school.”
Lucas’ scholarship is $15,000 and William’s is $12,000. The money will be divided equally over their eight terms at the university.
Lucas is studying computer science while William will be studying actuarial science.
GCVI wished both students luck in their future studies.
