GUELPH – A Guelph woman faces an aggravated assault charge after a man was slashed in the face with a broken bottle.
Just after 9am Monday, Guelph police received several 911 calls about an injured male near the intersection of Waterloo Avenue and Edinburgh Road South.
Police say they located an adult male with a significant laceration to his nose and lip. The male refused to provide information, claiming he had fallen.
“Officers followed a blood trail and discovered a broken glass bottle with blood on it. The male was transported to hospital for treatment of his injuries,” police said in a news release.
Through further investigation, police determined he had been kicked in the abdomen and slashed across the face with a broken bottle by a female known to him.
A 28-year-old Guelph woman is charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.
