MINTO – The Town of Minto will be issuing a Precautionary Boil Water Advisory starting May 6th, as the township continues work with the New Well project at the Minto Pines Water Well House.
In a news release, the township says the project has included the drilling of a new production well and now the new well has to be commissioned for use and the old existing well taken out of service.
“During this time the Minto Pines water system will be pressurized by a temporary water supply with very limited capacity,” the news release stated.
The township asks that starting May 6th water consumers conserve water and avoid any non-essential water usage such as lawn and garden watering, car washing, or pool filling.
The Precautionary Boil Water Advisory starts Monday, May 6th at 8am and continues for approximately two weeks or until work is complete.
The Town will hand deliver a notice informing consumers that the Precautionary Boil Water Advisory has been lifted and it is safe to resume normal water consumption.
“If plans for the project get changed due to unforeseen circumstances, a “Notice for Change of Plans” will be hand-delivered to your home to inform you of such.”
The Precautionary Boil Water Advisory is applicable to water used for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, and washing food. Containers can be filled prior to the boil water advisory being in effect for use during the outage.
How to make your water safe to drink by boiling?
- Bring it to a rolling boil for one minute. Timing starts when large bubbles begin to continuously rise and break rapidly at the surface.
