FERGUS – Centre Wellington District High School and JD Hogarth Public School were briefly in “hold and secure” for a police investigation Monday.
At around 12pm, OPP responded to a reported threats call on Scotland Street, Fergus.
Police say it was reported that a student had been threatened by another student during a dispute. OPP responded and an 18-year-old was arrested.

Centre Wellington District High School and JD Hogarth Public School were briefly in “hold and secure” for a police investigation.
Communications manager with the Upper Grand District School Board, Heather Loney told the Grand 101 in an email around 1 p.m. there was “a situation outside the school” but that it was “business as usual inside the school.”
By about 1:30 p.m., Loney announced the hold and secure was lifted.
Wellington County OPP confirmed in an email that officers were investigating a “threat” but there were no reports of a person with a gun. Police did not elaborate on the nature of the threat.
