WELLINGTON COUNTY – Property owners in Wellington County are being asked to destroy any noxious weeds on their lands by June 1st and throughout the season.
A notice from the County of Wellington is requiring all property owners with land not exceeding ten acres, in all Wellington County municipalities, to destroy noxious weeds growing on their lands.
The municipalities include Centre Wellington, Puslinch, Guelph/Eramosa, Erin, Mapleton, Minto, and Wellington North.
The weeds include:
- Common Barberry
- Smooth Bedstraw
- European Buckthorn
- Wild Chervil
- Coltsfoot
- Common Crupina
- Woolly Cupgrass
- Dodder spp.
- Dog Strangling Vine
- Dog Strangling Vine-Black
- Jointed Goatgrass
- Giant Hogweed
- Knapweed spp.
- Kudzu
- Wild Parsnip
- Poison Hemlock
- Poison Ivy
- Ragweed spp.
- Tansy Ragwort
- Sow Thisle spp.
- Cypress Spurge
- Leafy Spurge
- Bull Thistle
- Canada Thistle
- Serrated Tussock
According to the county, a municipality may otherwise enter your property and have the weeds destroyed, charging the costs against the land as set out in the Weed Control Act.
