CENTRE WELLINGTON – Centre Wellington Council has approved awarding a contract to complete the required consultation and other activities to support developing a license bylaw framework for short-term rental accommodations in the township.
The contract has been awarded to Maclaren Municipal Consulting Inc. at an upset limit of $74,900
Kerri O’Kane, Centre Wellington’s Municipal Clerk says the public consultation is a huge part of this project.
She says through the public consultation the township is going to know what the regulations should be.
Responding to a question from Councillor Lisa MacDonald, Kerri O’Kane Municipal Clerk confirmed that the hotel/motel industry would be part of the consultation process.
At a 2023 council meeting, staff were directed to pursue regulating short-term rentals in Centre Wellington through a multi-step process.
This will include an extensive public consultation process, the creation of an inventory of short-term accommodation properties in the township, and using the information collected to draft a licensing bylaw.
