GUELPH – A story we’ve been following this week has taken a promising turn, with some welcome good news.
The Guelph Humane Society reported on Monday that a dog was found abandoned in the holding tank of a public washroom at Guelph Lake Conservation Area on Sunday.
GHS says one of their Animal Services Officers responded to a call from a conservation officer who found the little Chihuahua named Cleo.
Lisa Veit, GHS’s Executive Director says Cleo was found inside the inground tank in a thin body condition.
Veit says Cleo was immediately taken to the veterinarian to be treated and did show some signs of neglect.
Veit reports that Cleo is now back in the care of the Humane Society, receiving the attention and treatment she requires, and is doing “wonderfully”.
When Cleo is ready after getting some much-needed care, she will eventually be put up for adoption.
GHS is also asking community members that may have information about this incident to report it to the Provincial Animal Welfare Service.
