WELLINGTON COUNTY – Wellington County is bringing automated speed enforcement to nine local community safety zones.
At Thursday’s county council meeting, councillors voted to enter into an agreement with Global Traffic Group to set up the photo enforcement cameras.
Councillor Jeff Duncan said for now the speed cameras will only be placed along roads within the County’s jurisdiction.
“The first year is a pilot for the county,” explained Duncan. “After that the opportunities for local municipalities might come on.”
There will be signage alerting drivers to the presence of the cameras and there will be a 90 notice period before fines are issued to offenders.
