ERIN – If you’ve obtained a burn permit from the Town of Erin, be prepared for a long night.
The Town is banning burns during the day, saying forest fuels are drying and there is an increased risk of surface fires starting. In a statement on X Thursday, officials raised the fire danger rating to moderate.
Fires are only permitted two hours before sunset and must be extinguished two hours after sunrise. All fires must be controlled and supervised from when they are lit until completely extinguished.
Anyone looking to conduct an open burn must have a permit.
