ELORA – The Elora Festival kicks off this weekend and the Elora Singers held an exclusive open rehearsal Wednesday night.
The night was also a celebration of the $127 thousand dollar grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
MPP for Wellington-Halton Hills, Ted Arnott, explained why the grant is so significant.
“I think it’s important to point out that the Ontario Trillium Foundation is an organization where volunteers actually make the decisions as to which projects and which community organizations are going to be supported through these grants,” explained Arnott. “And a $127,400 grant is a significant show of support for the work done here at the Elora Festival.”
Christina Stelmacovich, Manager of the Elora Festival and Singers says the Festival wouldn’t be possible without the support of the province and volunteers.
“We have over 100 volunteers who are dedicated to doing some aspect of volunteering for the festival whether it’s ushering, lifting chairs, helping otu at events,” said Stelmacovich. “We have outdoor events, indoor events, people helping out at the office, people volunteering for the book sale. This is an enormous part of a community effort.”
The 45th season of the Elora Festival begins Friday with the Opening Gala featuring Joseph Haydn’s, The Creation. There are concerts through to July 20th. Tickets are still available by clicking here.
