The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation is giving Wellington County approximately $12 million to make improvements to its over 12 hundred affordable and subsidized housing units.
The first of the funding was actually released to the County in 2023 but was officially announced in a media release yesterday.
The funding will make the existing housing stock more accessible and sustainable. Some projects already completed include new windows and roofs, enhanced attic insulation, foundation repairs, and accessibility upgrades to hundreds of units.
The grant will cover 30 per cent of capital costs, with the county picking up the remaining 70 per cent for a total investment of $40 million.
The funding will continue to flow until 2026.
