ELORA – Downtown Elora will have more Christmas lights this year as the township approved an interest-free loan for the BIA.
On Monday, council approved a $50,000 interest-free loan for the Elora BIA to replace the downtown Christmas light features.
Colin Baker, Centre Wellington’s Director of Infrastructure Services said the the BIA plans to replace its wreaths altogether.
However, during the meeting, Councillor Bronwynne Wilton expressed concerns about the increasing number of Christmas lights in Elora, between the Elora BIA’s lighting project and private groups like Kat Florence or Pearle Hospitality and wondered if the township had a lighting policy.
CAO, Dan Wilson clarified that the township does not currently have policies on the use of lighting and would need council direction to investigate one.
