FERGUS – The Northern Tornadoes Project (NTP) touched down in Fergus.
While it may not be as catastrophic as the monster tornadoes from the Twister movie, the NTP says they found a long narrow path of damage and can confirm a tornado in a Fergus neighbourhood. A preliminary EFO rating has been assigned.
Storm Chaser with The Weather Network, Mark Robinson, was also in town looking at the damage patterns as well as looking at the information that NTP compiled. He says when the storm rolled in, he didn’t realize the severity.
He says initially, there was evidence both in favour of and against a tornado touching down.
There was damage at several sites. Robinson says most of it was concentrated in the neighbourhood surrounding the cenotaph where yesterday’s remembrance services occurred.
Robinson says weather patterns are changing and people should be on alert.
