MAPLETON TOWNSHIP – The final stamp of approval has been given to the budget in Mapleton Township.
At last night’s council meeting, council approved the budget and tax rate increase of 3.55 per cent which works out to $65.63 for the average property owner.
Patrick Kelly, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer, said to keep the rate at the projected number some budget items had to be deferred.
Kelly, says approving the budget would mean Mapleton could move to the front of the line in regards to many projects.
Mayor Gregg Davidson thanked staff for their work on the document.
Last night’s council meeting also saw the swearing-in of new councillor Lori Woodham, who was voted in during the last council meeting to fill the seat left vacant by the resignation of Martin Tamlyn, who accepted a job offer in Centre Wellington.
