HILLSBURGH – A new report going to Erin Council Thursday recommends approval of a zoning bylaw amendment to permit a residential development on Trafalgar Road in Hillsburgh.
The proposed development, Hillsburgh Heights, would feature over 300 residential units, a new school, and a park at 5916 Trafalgar Road.
The development would include 195 single detached dwellings and 174 townhouse units. Staff say the proposal represents “appropriate greenfield development” and would contribute to the town’s housing mix.
The updated application addresses concerns raised at a 2022 public meeting, including traffic, privacy, and drainage. The school board has identified the need for a second school in Hillsburgh, and a new park would provide a safe space for children to play.
If the zoning amendment is approved, a draft plan of subdivision will be presented to council, addressing technical and design requirements.
The application would then be forwarded to the county for approval.
