CENTRE WELLINGTON – A 3.49% tax increase has been approved by Centre Wellington Council as part of its 2025 budget.
For the average home assessed at $393,972, this means an extra $50 on the tax bill, the increase doesn’t include the county portion of the tax bill.
In an interview with The Grand at 101, the township’s CAO Dan Wilson says there are some pressures affecting this year’s budget.
Highlights from the 2025 budget include the township doing a public engagement strategy, and investigating a municipal accommodation tax.
Major construction projects slated for the upcoming year include upgrades to Colborne Street between Fergus and Elora, Phase 2 of St. David Street North construction from Garafraxa Street to Edinburgh in Fergus, and the reconstruction of Hill Street between Herrick Street and Gartshore Street in Fergus.
Wilson also says the township will be continuing to do parking enforcement next year.
He says that is something they would investigate in 2025 and then potentially roll out in 2026.
