CENTRE WELLINGTON – A two-vehicle collision near Elora has claimed the life of a Centre Wellington resident.
Just after 7am Tuesday, Wellington County OPP, Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services, and Centre Wellington Fire Rescue responded to a collision on Wellington Road 21 near 4th Line East in Centre Wellington Township.
Upon arrival, emergency services located the involved vehicles; a passenger car and a minivan which had collided head-on.
In a news release, Wellington County OPP says the lone drivers were transported to a local hospital where one of the drivers an 18-year-old of Centre Wellington was pronounced dead.
The second driver was later airlifted to Hamilton hospital for their injuries, which are believed to be non-life-threatening.
The cause of the collision is being investigated.
Members from the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) Team are at the scene to assist with the collision investigation.
Wellington Road 21 between Wellington Road 7 and Sideroad 4 is currently closed for investigation and will remain closed for several hours.
