WELLINGTON COUNTY – It was another successful year for the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington’s annual Trees for Tots community fundraiser.
The event was held on January 11th which saw over 275 volunteers come together and raise over $85,000 in funds that will go directly to supporting programming at the Children’s Foundation to support local children and youth.
In its 13th year, the Foundation says the trees collected from this event will support the community through different naturalization projects.
This year, the Foundation says the mulch from the chipped trees has been donated to the Arboretum for walking trails and other projects. Additionally, over 150 whole trees were donated to Freshwater Conservation Canada for creek restoration efforts at Marden Park and other locations across Ontario.
“We are proud to continue to work with environmental partners to make a positive impact in our community in more ways, says Amanda Kavchak, director of marketing & communications at the Children’s Foundation. “Each year we look at this event from a sustainability lens, ensuring that we are considering our environmental impact in every planning step. From connecting with community partners for chip and tree donations, to cutting down on mileage and printing costs, we continue to take steps to increase our sustainable impact every year. We encourage the community to continue to follow our organization on social media to discover more stories of how their tree continues to shine in our local environment.”
The 2025 Trees for Tots event was presented by indi Mortgage and supported by Lead Partners JLs Tree Service and Hersey Bins.
