CENTRE WELLINGTON – Both local hockey teams were in action on the weekend.
On Friday the Elora Rocks took on the Stratford Fighting Irish in their last regular season home game at the Jefferson Elora Community Centre.
Elora secured a 6-2 win over Stratford. It was also Alumni night, the Rocks honoured members of the 1960-1961 championship team and celebrated every Elora Rocks team since.
Elora were then on the road on Saturday in Dunnville to take on the Aeros, the Rocks got a 8-4 win.
Meanwhile, the Fergus Whalers began a three game home stand at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex on Friday night.
The Whalers took on the Hanover Barons, falling 3-1 to Hanover.
Fergus got back in the win column yesterday when they took on the Kincardine Bulldogs, getting a 6-5 in overtime.
The Whalers will host the Wingham Ironmen tomorrow night in a makeup game that was suspended earlier in the season, that game kicks off at 8:30pm.
