ELORA – A local rehabilitation centre that helps people suffering from substance abuse-related problems is closing its doors after 40 years of service.
Portage Ontario announced on social media Friday that their rehabilitation centre in Elora will be closing its doors “due to financial and economic challenges that, despite our best efforts, could no longer be overcome.”
The organization says this has been an incredibly difficult decision. “We remain committed to ensuring that our current clients continue to receive the care they need and have helped them transition to another Portage centre for the completion of their therapy.”
Over the past four decades, Portage has helped hundreds of youth to regain a better quality of life and to reintegrate fully into their environment.
“We would like to take a moment to recognize the efforts of all of those who have overcome addiction and taken back control over their lives,” the organization said.
