NEWS RELEASE WELLINGTON COUNTY OPP
(WELLINGTON COUNTY, ON) – The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate following an arrest of an individual in Wellington County.
On February 23, 2025, at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers from the Wellington Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged an individual in connection with a criminal investigation. The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.
On February 24, 2025, while in custody, the individual advised of an injury and was transported to a local hospital for assessment. They were later released from hospital and returned to police custody.
The OPP has notified the SIU of the incident, which has invoked its mandate. As a result, the OPP will not be able to provide further information. Any other inquiries should be directed to siu.media@ontario.ca.
