GUELPH – Guelph Police continue to investigate after five males armed with hammers robbed a Guelph jewelry store Tuesday afternoon.
At around 1:45 pm, police say five suspects attended a jewelry store in the area of Speedvale Avenue East and Stevenson Street North. One remained in the car while the other four suspects used hammers to break the glass front door and enter the business. They then used the hammers to smash display cases.
Police say they fled a short time later and it is not believed anything was stolen.
The suspects who entered the store were described as:
- Black male, average build, wearing a grey Reebok hoodie, black jogging pants, black shoes, gloves, a toque and a face covering, carrying a hammer
- Black male, heavy build, black Nike hoodie, two-tone grey jacket, grey jogging pants, gloves and a red bandana over his face
- Black male, slim build, black hoodie, black jogging pants, mask, medical gloves, carrying a hammer and grey and black backpack
- Black male, grey hoodie, black jacket with hood up, black jogging pants, black and blue Nike shoes, gloves and carrying a hammer and over-the-shoulder grey bag with lime green markings.
Police say they fled in a black Acura TLX sedan which had been reported stolen from Peel Region and was driven by the fifth suspect.
No injuries were reported.
The investigation is ongoing.
