FERGUS – The Fergus Grand Theatre sent out a media release this week inviting all to World Theatre Day on March 27th.
The event will kick off at 7 p.m.
“One and all” are invited to the day, which will showcase performances by Elora Community Theatre, Centre Wellington Children’s Drama Club and others.
Eric Goudie, Centre Wellington’s Theatre Coordinator, says the collaboration of groups like those is a rare yet cherished chance.
He added this year will feature a themed 10-minute play contest months in the making.
The history of the event pre-pandemic was dubbed “tenuous” by Goudie, but since, he says the day has been a chance for the community to celebrate and be thankful for what they have.
Goudie went on to say he expects the local theatre groups to bring their usual level of dedication to the stage.
Also to be awarded on the day is the Lis Peiper award, given annually to a long-serving individual in local theatre.
Goudie explains there’s more to this day than just showcasing local talent.
“A day worth noting,” festivities will be kicked off by a World Theatre Day message from a member of senate.
