WELLINGTON COUNTY – A full-day program for local Grade 3 students is gearing up for another year.
The program, called Pizza Perfect, has been growing in popularity since its inception. Run by the Grand River Agricultural Society, organizer and host of the event, Dorothy Key, explains this program’s impact can’t be overstated as it celebrates a milestone year.
Grade 3 students in four local school boards including the Upper Grand District School Board will have the opportunity to learn about the ingredients of a pizza and how they are produced.
Key explains this popular food choice among kids offers a lot of educational value as well.
Demand continues to grow for the now full-up event, but a virtual session will be available all week the week of the in-person event.
The in-person sessions run Tuesday, March 25th and Wednesday March 26th from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and will include a pizza lunch from a local supplier.
Key noted the event’s focus on agriculture is critical for local students.
People work diligently day-in and day-out to put food on plates, says Key, as she and the Grand River Agricultural Society gear up to commemorate 20 years of learning through the Pizza Perfect program in Wellington County.
