WELLINGTON COUNTY – Wellington-Halton Hills MP Michael Chong will be running in the next federal election.
Chong confirmed in an email to The Grand at 101 Friday that he will be seeking re-election. Multiple sources say Prime Minister Mark Carney is about to launch a federal election campaign on Sunday.
Chong was first elected in 2004 when the Wellington-Halton Hills riding was first formed and has served in the riding for seven terms as a member of the Conservative Party of Canada.
When the next election is officially called, Chong will be running in a new riding, called Wellington-Halton Hills North.

The changes do not affect Centre Wellington, however, the redrawn riding will now include south Guelph and remove Georgetown.
