WELLINGTON COUNTY- The Wellington County Archives is inviting residents to explore local history this spring through a series of special events.
Behind-the-scenes guided tours of the Archives’ processing room and storage vault will be offered in April and May, giving visitors a unique look at how our community’s history is preserved.
The popular ‘Ask an Archivist’ program will visit six local libraries, starting April 14th at the Harriston Library and concluding May 15th at the Clifford Library. Those locations are:
- Harriston Library: April 14, 2:00 – 6:00 pm
- Mount Forest Library: April 22, 1:00 – 4:00 pm
- Puslinch Library: May 3, 12:00 – 3:00 pm (with Puslinch Historical Society)
- Rockwood Library: May 5, 2:00 – 5:00 pm
- Hillsburgh Library: May 13, 3:00 – 6:00 pm
- Clifford Library: May 15, 3:00 – 6:00 pm
These sessions offer residents the chance to get expert help with family history research, house history, and document preservation.
“Archival records are created every day and provide windows into our shared past,” says Karen Wagner, Archivist in a Media Release. “From family historians to researchers, students to professionals, these documents tell the story of Wellington County. Wellington County Archives preserves our rich documentary history, ensuring it is available for the future, keeping our community’s memory alive.”
If you cannot make it to the event, The Archives welcomes visitors weekdays from 9:30 to 4:30pm, and Saturdays by appointment from 11:30 to 4:00pm.
