ELORA – For the first time, an Elora Centre for the Arts (ECFTA) Vibrant Visions Series event will focus in specifically on caregivers.
The Art of Support: Creating Pathways for Caregiving will feature three panelists, offering an insightful panel discussion on the caregiving experience, a media release says.
Speakers will be Trevor Finney, a spiritual health team lead at Michael Garron Hospital, as well as CEO of the Ontario Caregiver Organization, Amy Coupal. Rounding out the group will be an experienced palliative care nurse Shelley Lillie.
Sheila Koop, the Volunteer Chair of the Elora Centre for the Arts Capital Campaign, says putting the event together has reinforced how many caregivers there are both in the community and abroad.
Koop says this series has been all about health, wellness and the arts, and how we can help make the community stronger through the arts.
Bringing the event to life is a partnership between the ECFTA and the Aboyne Rural Hospice Team.
This is a “fabulous collaboration,” Koop added. She says she hopes to see the partnership continue after the event and in turn the end of the Vibrant Visions Series.
Lillie says part of her message will be focused around what she called “caregiver burnout.”
She went on to say a focus of her remarks will be creating an open forum for caregivers to connect.
Koop, meanwhile, explains the other two speakers will bring different, yet worthwhile perspectives to the table.
The event will run 3 – 5 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. Tickets are $30 for GA and $20 for seniors and students. Proceeds will be split between the hospice and the arts centre.
