NEWS RELEASE PALMERSTON AND DISTRICT HOSPITAL FOUNDATION
The Palmerston and District Hospital Foundation is pleased to announce a $75,000 matching gift from Scotiabank in support of the hospital’s MRI+ Campaign. This generous donation from Scotia, along with many other donations from the community has brought the MRI+ Campaign over the $8,000,000 goal! This $8,000,000 includes money that has been raised to date plus monies pledged to come in over the next few years.
The MRI+ Campaign began in earnest in 2023, and has seen extraordinary community support throughout the rural areas of Wellington County. The volunteer Campaign Committee has worked diligently at engaging with community groups, service clubs, individuals and corporate donors in order to bring this important diagnostic service to the area. Dan Hill – Co-Chair of the Campaign states “Having organizations like Scotiabank come alongside the Foundation to make this goal a reality is incredibly gratifying”.
The MRI service is expected to be in use by the end of 2025, and once running, the Province of Ontario will fund the operations cost of the service. Earl Campbell, Chair of the Hospital Foundation states “We are grateful to the province for the support through operating funds for this excellent diagnostic tool, especially in our underserviced rural area, and we are looking forward to North Wellington Health Care being able to offer this important service in the community”.
Mark Leslie – Co-Chair of the Campaign offered his thanks to all of the Campaign volunteers, the many donors, and the entire rural Wellington area “Without our generous community, this would not be possible”.
The Campaign will officially wrap up on June 30th, allowing for any last minute gifts to be received. For information, please contact Dale Franklin, Development Officer for the Palmerston and District Hospital Foundation at dfranklin@pdhfoundation.ca.
