NEWS RELEASE TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON
CENTRE WELLINGTON – The Township of Centre Wellington (Elora & Fergus Tourism) and the Elora Fergus Arts Council are once again working together to bring Ontario Culture Days to life in Centre Wellington!
Culture Days is the largest collective public participation campaign undertaken by the arts and cultural community of Canada. Every year, thousands of events are connected under the celebratory banner of Culture Days – communities large and small are united from coast to coast to increase public engagement in cultural experiences through free, participatory arts and culture events. The next National Culture Days celebrations will take place from September 19 through October 12, 2025, for three glorious weeks of colour, creativity, and community!
The Township is proud to celebrate Culture Days with the community once again, while recognizing the remarkable successes over the past two years. In 2023, Centre Wellington was recognized as the #1 community in the “Towns and Rural Areas” category and ranked #5 nationally. Building on that momentum, the community once again claimed the #1 spot in the “Towns and Rural Areas” in 2024 and placed #9 nationally – a testament to the vibrant arts and cultural spirit that thrives in the Township. These achievements would not have been possible without the creativity, dedication, and hard work of local event organizers!
This year’s theme in Centre Wellington, “Canvas of Cultures – Celebrating Diversity and Artistic Expression”, reflects the rich diversity and artistic vibrancy that thrives within Centre Wellington. Surrounded by the beauty of the Grand River, towering limestone cliffs, historic buildings, and lush agricultural landscapes, Centre Wellington offers a unique setting that has long been an inspiration for artists of all forms. It’s no wonder A.J. Casson of the Group of Seven called our village “Ontario’s Most Beautiful”!
