GUELPH-ERAMOSA – Three people survived falling into water at conservation area, thanks to proper use of lifejackets.
On Saturday May 17, 2025, at approximately 6:30 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with the Guelph-Eramosa Fire Department, Guelph Fire Department, and Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Service responded to a report of three individuals in need of rescue after the canoe they were in capsized at the Rockwood Conservation Area.
It was reported that the three individuals, who were all wearing lifejackets, managed to climb onto a small island where they were stranded for approximately one hour.
A Guelph Fire Department boat was used to rescue all three victims. One person was transported to hospital as a precaution while the other two were treated at scene by paramedics.
