ERIN – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charges Georgetown resident with nine charges, stemming from a safety blitz.
On June 16, 2025, at approximately 9:30 a.m., members of the Wellington County OPP Traffic Management Unit were performing a proactive traffic enforcement safety blitz, which resulted in a traffic stop being conducted on Wellington Road 124, within the Town of Erin.
As a result of the investigation, a 20-year-old from Georgetown is charged under the Highway Traffic Act and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with:
- Defective braking system
- Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
- Drive motor vehicle, fail to display two plates
- Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit
- Insecure load
- Operate unsafe combination of vehicles
- Operate vehicle – fail to display inspection sticker or proof
- Overweight vehicle – violate permit …kg
- Use plate not in accordance with regulations
