GUELPH-ERAMOSA – Police are urging the public to stay vigilant with their mailboxes, as thieves targeted their contents in the Rockwood area.
On Friday, June 20, 2025, the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received multiple reports of thefts of mail and damaged community mailboxes in the Rockwood area.
It was reported that several community mailboxes on Sammon Drive, Parkinson Drive, and Hampson Crescent, in Rockwood were broken into.
It was determined that suspects stole items including government-issued identification and other mail.
Two persons of interest were captured on security video approaching one of the mailboxes on June 20, 2025, at approximately 2:00 a.m. They arrived in a four-door compact silver car.
The driver is described as male, thin build, short hair, wearing baggy pants and a light-coloured hoody.
The passenger is described as having short hair and was wearing an orange or red shirt.
Wellington OPP suggest that any potential victims in the area should contact police to file a report. Police recommend that victims check with their financial institutions and credit card companies for any suspicious activities.
