GUELPH – A Mount Forest resident has been charged with impaired driving after colliding with a stopped Guelph Transit bus.
On Saturday, at around 6pm, Guelph police were called to the area of Gordon Street and Monticello Crescent.
Police say a bus had stopped to let passengers off when it was struck from behind by a Subaru Impreza. Officers spoke to the driver and noted he was unsteady on his feet and had slurred speech.
The male was arrested for impaired driving and transported to the police station, where an officer trained in drug recognition concluded he was impaired by a drug.
During a search officers found a glass pipe and empty pill bottle inside his pants. The man was asked to provide a blood sample for analysis and refused to comply.
A 25-year-old Mount Forest man is charge with impaired driving and refusing to provide a sample.
