WELLINGTON COUNTY – Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington (CSGW) was recently recognized by the Ontario Association of Crime Stoppers at the annual conference, this year held in North Bay, June 6-8th.
CSGW once again was presented with the Marla Moon Memorial Award of Excellence (pop. 100,001-299,999) is presented to the program that “best demonstrates its commitment to the Crime Stoppers mission through its basic responsibilities and its efforts at community outreach and partnership.”
CSGW first won this award in 2015 and has received the hardware every year since.
“It’s rewarding to see the hard work being done at Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington is being recognized,” said Program Coordinator Sarah Bowers-Peter. “As we have said before, we promote these successes so that the public can see the work we do is being recognized at the provincial level, and they can have a level of confidence in Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington.”
CSGW was also named as developing the “Best Student Engagement (pop. 100,001-299,999)” concept for The Cyber Safety Presentation.
The presentation, created and launched in 2024 by CSGW in response to the continued increase in youth exploitation, was endorsed by Upper Grand District School Board (UGDSB) and Wellington Catholic District School Board (WCDSB).
“Online Excellence” is an open class where all-sized Crime Stoppers programs compete for recognition of online engagement.
CSGW won the award with recognition for the program’s website www.csgw.tips and its social media platforms, including Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn.

Svensson, who joined the board in 2004, was honoured with the Ontario Association of Crime Stoppers’ (OACS) President’s Award at the provincial conference.
“I am humbled and grateful to the Ontario Association of Crime Stoppers for the recognition which I happily acknowledge would not have been possible without the unwavering commitment and dedication of our volunteer Board, our staff at Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington, and our community partners and supporters,” said Svensson. “I am continually inspired by how much we have accomplished as a team, with everyone pulling on the oars together, to raise awareness that truly helps prevent and solve crime.”
CSGW received a total of four awards at the 2025 OACS Conference.
