FERGUS – Starting September 9th, the Fergus Grand Theatre will be offering theatre technician training on Tuesday nights.
This twelve week program is valuable for both attendees, and as Theatre Coordinator Eric Goudie explains, the theatre and its operations.
The first half of the course will be focussed on the theoretical aspects of the role, while the second will be mainly practical skills training.
Goudie says the course will prepare students for a possible apprenticeship with a current technician, upon completion of a short written exam.
He went on to say it covers a wide variety of subject matter.
Goudie and staff hope this program can offer a “foot in the door” for an array of potential careers in theatre tech. Moreso than that, though, Goudie says this is about inspiring a love of theatre that connects students to their community.
Registration info can be found at the theatre or online.
