GUELPH – A Local martial artist and lifelong resident Nathan Skoufis has officially qualified for Team Canada, earning the honour of representing the country at the World Martial Arts Championships later this year.
Skoufis, a 26-time world champion and 6th-degree black belt, will step onto the international stage to compete among the world’s top athletes.
“I’m incredibly honoured to represent Canada and my hometown on the world stage,” said Skoufis in a media release. “It’s a privilege I don’t take lightly. I’m proud to compete not just for medals, but to show young people what’s possible with discipline, belief, and support from a strong community.”
Skoufis is also the head instructor at Guelph Family Martial Arts, where he mentors and trains students of all ages, using martial arts as a vehicle for personal growth, confidence, and leadership.
This latest achievement marks a milestone in a decorated career, and the community is invited to celebrate and cheer on one of its own as he prepares to represent Canada.
