ELORA – Grand River Raceway is set to hold its annual Wiener Dog Race tonight.
The race will feature 30 dachshunds dashing down the track in a competition to determine top dog.
Showcased on the racetrack between horse races, the event takes place in three qualifying heats, followed by the final race. The top three dogs from each heat compete in the final.
Approximate schedule for Friday, July 4:
- Horse races begin at 6:20 pm
- 3 wiener dog qualifying heats begin after Horse Race #4 (7:35 pm)
- Wiener Dog FINAL Race begins after Horse Race #6 (8:20 pm)
- Trophy for Wiener Dog Race Winner is awarded after Race #7 (8:35 pm)
