CENTRE WELLINGTON – Wellington County OPP have charged two people stemming from an attempted traffic stop.
On Monday night at around 7:30pm, Wellington County OPP observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed, to which a traffic stop was attempted to be initiated on Wellington Road 26 within Centre Wellington Township.
Police say once the traffic stop was signaled, the vehicle failed to stop and instead fled the area, prompting an investigation.
As a result of the investigation, an 18-year-old, resident of Ireland, was charged with:
- Flight from peace officer
- Dangerous operation
- Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed
- Drive motor vehicle – no licence
Additionally, a 23-year-old, resident of the United Kingdom, was charged with:
- Obstruct Peace officer
The motor vehicle involved was impounded, and both accused were held in custody, pending a bail hearing.
