WELLINGTON COUNTY – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged six drivers with stunt driving-excessive speed over the weekend.
On July 18, 2025, at approximately 7:45 p.m., members of the Wellington County OPP Traffic Management Unit were performing a traffic enforcement initiative and observed a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed, to which a traffic stop was initiated on Main Street East within Mapleton Township.
As a result of the investigation, a 35-year-old from Harriston was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with the following:
- Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed
On July 18, 2025, at approximately 11:00 p.m., members of the Wellington County OPP Traffic Management Unit were performing a traffic enforcement initiative and observed a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed, to which a traffic stop was initiated on Wellington Road 109 near Concession 11 within Wellington North Township.
As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old from Rockwood was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with the following:
- Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed
- Speeding
On July 19, 2025, at approximately 3:10 a.m., a member of the Wellington County OPP observed a motor vehicle travelling at a high observed a motor vehicle travelling within a community safety zone at a high rate of speed. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Wellington Road 7 within Guelph-Eramosa Township.
As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old from Guelph was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with the following:
- Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed
- Speeding
On July 19, 2025, at approximately 12:00 p.m., a member of the Wellington County OPP Traffic Management Unit observed a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed, to which a traffic stop was initiated on Wellington Road 44 within Guelph-Eramosa Township.
As a result of the investigation, a 40-year-old from Fergus was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with the following:
- Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed
- Speeding
- Having a dirty licence plate
On July 21, 2025, at approximately 2:55 a.m., a member of the Wellington County OPP observed a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed within a community safety zone, to which a traffic stop was initiated on Wellington Road 7 within Guelph-Eramosa Township.
As a result of the investigation, a 57-year-old from Guelph was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with the following:
- Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed
- Speeding
On July 21, 2025, at approximately 3:25 a.m., a member of the Wellington County OPP was performing a traffic enforcement initiative and observed a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed, to which a traffic stop was initiated on Main Street East in Drayton.
As a result of the investigation, a 28-year-old from Waterford was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with the following:
- Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed
- Speeding
Anyone charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform stunt, receives a 14-day impoundment and a 30-day driver’s licence suspension as per statute.
The accused are scheduled to appear in the Provincial Offences Court – Guelph, at a later date.
