GREY BRUCE – The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), in collaboration with Dufferin CSCU and the Grey Bruce OPP Crime Unit, has made a third arrest in connection with an ongoing property crime investigation spanning Grey and Dufferin Counties.
This investigation began in early July 2025 following several break-and-enter incidents and reports of stolen property across the region. On July 15, 2025, a stolen Ford F650 U-Haul truck was located in Melancthon Township. On July 16, 2025, two individuals were arrested in Southgate Township following a report of a suspicious vehicle. A search of the truck uncovered tools and items linked to a break and enter in Meaford, as well as break-in instruments. Later that same day, a stolen 18-foot flatbed trailer was seized from a property in Melancthon Township.
On July 17, 2025, police arrested a third individual in relation to this investigation.
A 49-years-old man from Fergus, has been charged with the following criminal code offences:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 (two counts)
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 (three counts)
- Possession of Break-In Instruments
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on August 21, 2025.
