NEWS RELEASE WELLINGTON COUNTY OPP
(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to Wellington Road 26, within the Town of Erin involving a landlord-tenant dispute.
On August 30, 2025, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Wellington County OPP received a report of a heated landlord-tenant dispute, resulting in police being called to the scene.
On arrival, officers spoke with both parties and learned that amongst a prolonged heated argument between landlord and tenant, that the tenant allegedly threatened the landlord and then ‘belly-bumped’ them, causing the landlord to be knocked onto the ground.
As a result of the investigation, a 58-year-old from the Town of Erin, is charged under the Criminal Code with:
- Assault
- Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm
The victim did not report any injury.
The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph at a later date.
