GUELPH – A Guelph woman in her 70s has died after her SUV struck the back of a downtown business Friday morning.
Just before 10 a.m. emergency services were called to a business near Norfolk Street and Commercial Street. Staff reported a vehicle had gone off the road and hit the back of the business before catching on fire. Employees were able to extinguish the flames, but the business was briefly evacuated due to smoke.
The driver was removed from the vehicle by Guelph Fire Department and Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Service personnel and transported to hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
The collision remains under investigation.
